Golf lovers and entertainment enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting addition to Kirkland Urban! Five Iron Golf, known for its cutting-edge indoor golf experiences and other onsite entertainment, is set to open its doors soon, offering a unique blend of high-tech simulators, professional coaching, and a variety of games, all set in a lounge space serving up food and beverages fit for the whole family.

To give us a sneak peek of what to expect, we sat down with regional manager Mike Julian for a brief Q&A.

What brought Five Iron to Kirkland Urban?

Coming off the heels of the success of the Capitol Hill location in Seattle, we were looking to expand our footprint further in the Pacific Northwest. Kirkland Urban made perfect sense – it was a unique opportunity on the East Side of town and reaches a different audience than Capitol Hill.

What do you like most about this new location and what makes it unique?

Set among other retails spaces in the heart of Kirkland, we see Five Iron Golf at Kirkland Urban as a future social hub for folks of all ages and interests. We offer a full restaurant and bar, specializing in elevated bar food. We have a partially covered outdoor space with fire pits and plan to run daily $5 happy hour specials from 3 – 6pm and 9pm – close.

We are excited to bring our Detroit Duckpin Bowling game to this location as well – a new addition for the West Coast locations. Featuring smaller balls and accessible for folks of all ages, we will have three lanes open for this fun bowling alternative that’s easier, faster and great for nights out, weekends with kids and for parties and events.

How would you describe Five Iron to someone that’s never been?

We see Five Iron Golf as a place that offers two unique experiences – both a social, fun scene for those hanging out with friends and casually playing golf, and a place for the more serious golfer who wants to up their game. We love to see folks come in who have never even touched a golf club and build the confidence to maybe someday even get out on a course! We also use a simulator called Trackman Technology (Tiger Woods has one in his basement!) which gives you thousands of data points and feedback in real time. While this is designed to elevate entertainment options for the surrounding area, serious golfers will also appreciate this oasis. Five Iron members can enjoy daily free hitting time, access to video analysis, play on world-renowned courses, and receive a complimentary annual swing evaluation.

We are also a restaurant and lounge, with offerings for folks of all ages and appetites!

For folks that may not be as interested in golf, we have a multisport simulator so you can practice your soccer, hockey, or zombie dodgeball skills.

What offerings do you have for someone who has never golfed before?

We invite folks to come out in the evening to have a golf experience with our onsite associates. These are not full lessons like we offer to the more serious golfer, but intended to help folks become comfortable swinging, and foremost have fun.

The next level up is to have a swing evaluation – this begins at $99 from beginning/social golfer and will help elevate you to what we call a performance golfer.

Can you talk about your food and beverage offerings? Will you be operating a full-service restaurant?

Yes! We proudly offer what we call elevated bar food. While we are still finalizing the menu, you can expect items like brisket sliders, homemade New York-style pizza, boneless wings, and tacos.

We will also have eight different draft beers as well as bottled and canned beers, ciders, seltzers, wines, and of course a full bar for any cocktail you could dream up!

Will you host private events at this location?

Events are at the heart of what we do! Our versatile space is ideal for everything from corporate parties and team-building events to birthday celebrations and social gatherings. Whether you’re planning a casual get-together or a high-energy event, Five Iron Golf offers the perfect setting for fun, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences.

When will you officially open your doors?

Our soft opening will be Tuesday, September 24^th, and the public is welcome to come in! We are even offering a deal for the first 80 people to sign up for membership: join by October 15, 2024 and lock in a rate of $149 per month for up to 12 months – this includes a FREE Swing Evaluation, 5i Hoodie, and Bag Tag, plus $100 in account credit.

Our grand opening will be held on October 5^th and will feature a live radio broadcast onsite with 92.5 FM. We will be giving away free Detroit Duckpin Bowling for a year to the first 25 people to arrive. Folks will also have the chance to win prizes from Callaway Golf and an open bar with contests and raffles.
